LAY

The whole world is breaking
All around my feet
I thought that we could save it
But we were born too weak
Love weighs out the balance
That keeps the globe afloat
The never-ending last dance
The book we never wrote

All the generations
Will look back in time
Recalling life was pretty
And everything was fine
But nothing really changes
We only grow old
It’s the child’s heart we hold onto
The God we never sold

I’ll lay my head down on you now
You don’t have to touch me
Just let me be still
Still to feel the distance
From the windowsill
And when the winter calls me
Out from this surprise
We can fake we’re happy
As long as there is time

To lay my head down on you now
You don’t have to touch me
Just let me be still
Still to veil the darkness
From the windowsill
I will serve this moment
Pass it through my life
To know that there is refuge
Somewhere deep inside

I’ll lay my head down on you now
Oh, now please don’t touch me
Just let me be still
Still to feel the shadows
And know that you are here
All I’ll ever ask you
Every now and then
Is to promise me your body
Just to lay my head
Down
